FLORIDA
Gallery Fourteen

We were able to spend a long weekend in the Panhandle of Florida at the beginning of March 2007. We stayed in Destin on what is known as The Emerald Coast. This was Jürgen's first trip to Florida. I think this was my fifth time there but my first time in this particular area. Florida is a vast and varied State with many treasures to explore. There is much more than only Disney World or the beach. If it is beach you want though, this is an unusual area of the Gulf Coast. The sand was so white that when the sun shown fully the reflection almost hurt your eyes and the water is beautiful shades of blue and green. We drove up to Pensacola and walked through the restored Historical District in downtown. We also saw a portion of the Gulf Islands National Seashore and drove as far as Gulf Shores, Alabama before returning to Destin. We met friendly, helpful people; just as you would expect in the South, and we ate wonderful fresh seafood. In addition, we took some photographs we sincerely hope you will enjoy. If you are a water person, like me, I hope you will find something in them that speaks to you personally. If you are a mountain person, like Jürgen, hold on. We will make it back to the mountains on another trip soon.
