We make a good team travelling. Sometimes it’s me having ideas
about where to go and then Betsy as an American who has been all over places
in the Unites States works out an itinerary that fits perfectly to my ideas.
Sometimes, especially on European trips it’s just the other way around.
For this trip in fall 2004 I thought about learning more about
the Native American Indians, their culture and their heritage. So Betsy
planned out a trip all through the Four Corners area from Denver, Colorado,
through Utah and Arizona until Las Vegas, Nevada.
It’s hard to describe what you feel when you are driving
these almost endless roads through the Navajo Land deserts, like through
the middle of nowhere. But with nothing else around but pure nature you
may imagine why the Creator exactly created this kind of unique beauty.

 a tiny community coming out of an old Indian
Trading Post. We stopped there over night at a wonderful motel built halfway
into a rock formation. This is the first time I had Indian food like Navajo
Tacos and a very tasty Indian stew. The sunset inside those red rock
formations was outstanding. We recommend it as a stop before entering
Monument valley and if you’ve never done it before, we recommend that you
read some of the books that Tony Hillerman wrote. He gives you the right
feeling on this country and also into Indian culture and their everyday life.
This community is so small that it would be easy to drive by and never notice
it exists. If however you should find yourself in the area and can take time
to stop, I don’t think you will be disappointed. The sunset alone is worth
the price of a motel room.</p>'))
